PCEF Scholarships

Each year, the Person County Education Foundation proudly administers a variety of scholarships that have been established by generous individuals, families, and organizations to assist students with their educational pursuits .

Each scholarship expresses a deep belief in the power of education to help young people achieve their dreams.  These scholarships have been created to help students, of all backgrounds and interests, further their education at either a college, university, or trade school.  No matter your GPA, your high school, or the college you plan to attend, we likely have an opportunity for which you’re eligible to apply!

Amounts of money awarded, as well as criteria, will vary according to the discretion of individuals or groups who provide funding for the scholarship.

Full Details Matter - Don’t forget to include complete details on your application: these greatly impact whether you will be selected to receive a PCEF scholarship. Provide as much detail as possible, so that the scholarship committee has all of the information they need to thoroughly evaluate your application.

BEFORE YOU APPLY:

REVIEW YOUR SCHOLARSHIPS
Donors who value education establish scholarships for many reasons: to honor or memorialize a loved one, to encourage students as they pursue specific fields, to support study at a specific institution and to bridge the gap for students need. PCEF offers scholarships in the amount of $500 to $20,000. Scholarships can be used for tuition & fees, room & board, and/or books & supplies. All payments are made to the college or university.

REVIEW PCEF ESSAY PROMPTS
The PCEF scholarship application has two required essays that all applicants must complete. Additionally, there are other scholarship essays required by specific scholarships.

If you wish, you may choose to submit video essays on certain essay prompts.  If submitting a video is an option, you will see (W) for written and (V) for video next to the essay prompt.

Generally speaking, effective essays are emotionally honest and give insight into who the applicant is as a person. They illustrate genuine motivation and goals, rather than superficial or heavy-handed interest in issues or accomplishments that students THINK we want them to care about.

Scholarship essays are used to help the selection committee get to know you better, and to further prove your eligibility for the award. You don’t have to be the best writer to receive a scholarship award. Crafting a thoughtful and honest essay is possible if you take the time to reflect on how the essay question relates to you.

PCEF ESSAY GUIDELINES
Written Essays - Must be written by the applicant!
Video Essays – Must be at least 30 seconds and no longer than 2 minutes per essay video.

The Person County Education Foundation is not responsible for any technical errors that may arise as you complete and submit your application. We especially encourage you to upload required documents early, even if you aren't ready to submit your application. In addition, it is in your best interest to submit your application early to avoid any last minute web traffic problems. If your application is received after the deadline, it will be ineligible, regardless of the reason for late submission.

Please be advised, the application includes more than one step to complete. Waiting until the deadline is near can cause difficulty in submitting the application prior to the deadline.
