RECOMMENDATIONS
Identify at least two individuals that will complete your recommendation form. References should come from teachers, guidance counselors, principals, coaches, or employers. Writers cannot be family members . At least recommender must be from a current or previous teacher or school coach.
Some things to keep in mind: How long have I known this person? Can this person speak about what type of student I am? Can this person talk about my ability to persevere? Is this person able to talk about how well I'll do in college? The letter of recommendation is an extremely important part of scholarship applications. Besides the essay, it is a chance for the scholarship judge to learn personal details about the student. It’s always best to ask the people whom you admire and have worked closely with over time.
PCEF will contact your reference directly and provide them with a form to complete for your application. Please make sure the individuals you list as references are aware that you have submitted their names and that they need to watch for an e-mail from [email protected] and add this to their contact list. They should also check their SPAM filters/folders for the email. Your references will receive an e-mail with instructions on completing your letter of recommendation form.
