The Zeke and Pam Smith
Wolves and Pirates Forever Scholarship Fund

​To further promote and encourage Person County high school graduates to pursue post-secondary education, Zeke and Pam Smith have created two scholarships
highlighting the alma maters of each.  

These scholarships are available to students who are U.S. citizens,
residents of Person County, and are graduating from any Person County private or public high school, qualified home school authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education,
or a NC Free Public Residential high school.  

The Zeke and Pam Smith Wolves and Pirates Forever Scholarship Fund provides two $1,000 awards annually.

Clarence L. "Zeke" Smith received both BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering from NC State University (NCSU). Additionally, he served on the faculty of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NCSU, retiring after 32 years of service, and having been named
​Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor. 


The Wolf Award
 is a $1,000 award available to Person County high school graduates who plan to attend NC State University, with priority given to those students interested in enrolling in the NCSU College of Engineering.  However, other majors will be considered.

The Wolf Award, is a $1,000 award available to Person County high school graduates who plan to attend NC State University, with priority given to those students interested in enrolling in the NCSU College of Engineering.  However, other majors will be considered.

This student should exhibit:
  1. U.S. Citizenship
  2. A resident of Person County, NC for 12 months prior to the date of the scholarship application
  3. Graduation from any Person County private or public high school, qualified home school authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education, or a NC Free Public Residential high school
  4. Copy of letter of admission from respective universities
Considerations:
  1. Financial need, as validated by FAFSA completion and submission
  2. 2 letters of recommendation

Pam Smith graduated from East Carolina University (ECU) with her BS degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Wake County Public School system for 30 years, achieving National Board Teacher Certification, and was selected to serve on the Selection Committee for the Disney's American Teacher Awards program.

The Pirate Award
, is a $1,000 award available to Person County high school graduates who plans to attend East Carolina University, with priority given to students enrolling in the ECU College of Education.  However, other majors will be considered.  ​
