EXPERIENCE GRANTS
In an effort to promote learning inside and outside of the classroom during the 2016-17 school year,
PCEF partnered with Duke Energy to provide students with an “out-of-the-box” experience.

A grand total of over $12,730 was contributed by PCEF to partially fund these
field trip experience
s for nearly 4,000 Person County students!

By completing an Experience Grant application, teachers were able to travel with their students outside of Person County or bring an event outside of Person County to our county.

Applications were accepted and approved on a rolling basis.  The PCEF Experience Grant Committee reviewed applications and notified recipients about funding.  Only one grant application was approved per grade level,
per school.  Grant had to be approved BEFORE experience took place.

Grants were paid at a rate of $3.80 per grade-level student.  Application deadline was Monday, May 8, 2017. Experiences had to occur by Thursday, June 8, 2017.

A VISIT FROM DR. ELLIOT ENGEL

With funding from a Person County Education Foundation’s Experience Grant, secured through a partnership with Duke Energy, Dr. Elliot Engel, brought the authors to life in a 40-minute presentation to students at Person High School, Southern Middle School, Roxboro Community School and Northern Middle School. The grant allows students to go outside Person County to get educational experiences. It also enables speakers like Engel to visit the county and talk to students.
A VISIT FROM THE CAROLINA BALLET

On March 28-30, 2017, PCEF welcomed Katie, Carmen, and Max of the Carolina Ballet
to the elementary schools of Person County.

Carolina Ballet's visit was made possible through PCEF's Experience Grants, a matching grant from Duke Energy.  PCEF hopes that the students not only learned something new about health, exercise, and ballet,
but that they also realize that cultural arts is something to be appreciated and valued.
