The Person County Education Foundation (PCEF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1988, is committed to assisting the continued success and support of our Person County college bound students by offering and awarding scholarships. Our mission is to enhance the number and size of these scholarship awards as well as expand eligibility to a broader group of students. Simply put, we want to assist as many students as possible to become college graduates, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!

In 2021, with monetary awards, totaling $32,000, we were able to recognize 27 graduating high school seniors:
  • 18 from Person High School
  • 6 from Roxboro Community School
  • 3 from Person Early Learning College for Innovation & Leadership (PECIL)

These students subsequently enrolled at 10 North Carolina colleges and universities this fall:
  • 5 attending N. C. State University
  • 5 to Piedmont Community College
  • 4 to UNC-Chapel Hill
  • 3 to East Carolina University, 3 to N.C. A&T, and 3 to UNC-Greensboro
  • 1 each to Averett University, Western Carolina University, UNC-Charlotte, and UNC-Wilmington.

Ten (10) previous winners of renewable scholarships were also awarded a total of $25,000, based on their satisfactory performance, for a grand total PCEF award value this year of $57,000, the largest in our history!

And yet, we were unable to recognize 16 qualified applicants with an award of financial assistance.

Today marks the start of our 2022 Giving Campaign, to fundraise for new scholarship support, and ongoing Foundation operating expenses (about $25,000 annually). Like many organizations that rely on support of community friends like you--again, we get NO financial support from Person County Schools or Person County Government, nor any support from any State of NC or Federal Government agency--we hope you will join along with us. Our campaign runs through March 31, and details on how to make a contribution by personal check or online below.

Thank you for any support you may provide, We cannot do this without YOU!
Donations of any amount are welcomed and greatly appreciated!
