PLEASE READ. PLEASE CONSIDER. PLEASE SPONSOR.

The 2023-24 school year marks the 35th year that PCEF has existed “encouraging educational opportunities through community collaboration”. Whether it be awarding scholarships to deserving high school graduates, providing teacher mini grants for learning or classroom enhancements, or any number of other enrichment programs, PCEF has maintained a laser focus on Person County schools, teachers, students, their families, and our donors/supporters.

To meet these goals, the PCEF Directors have always looked to the community for sponsorship, primarily through its Annual Giving Campaign which typically runs from January 1 to March 31. Last year, our community donated a record $21,950 to the Foundation to help cover its annual operating expense. The Foundation answered by awarding record numbers of new (30) and renewal (7) scholarships and award amounts (almost $67,000). Our 2024 projections show as many as 50 scholarships and $90,000 possibly being awarded or renewed.

PCEF is hoping to make 2024 a truly TRANSFORMATIONAL year and has endorsed the theme “35 for 35”. Several goals, focusing on the number 35, have been set:

  1. Increase the number of new community supporters by 35. Last year, we added 7.
  2. Grow the number of donations of $350, or greater, from 17 to 35.
  3. Increase the number of unique scholarships (many have multiple winners) from 28 to 35.
  4. Enlarge the base of student applicants for awards by 35. Last year, 38 filed applications.
  5. Raise $35,000. Once our community support reaches $29,633 (which is 35% more than 2023!), an anonymous donor will contribute the $5,000+ to put us over the top!

Today (1-1-2024) marks the start of our “35 for 35” Giving Campaign, specifically to cover Foundation operating expenses (about $25,000 annually). Like many local 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that rely on support of community friends like you, we hope you will join alongside us, as we get NO financial support from any Person County School, nor any local, State or Federal agency. You may contribute, at our address above, by personal check (our least expensive way to process your gift and therefore our favored option). Online contributions can also be made via our website, shown below. Please help us meet each goal!

I thank you for reading our solicitation letter and please know I consider it a high honor to request your support on behalf of the outstanding, and deserving, students of Person County.
