Scholarships for 2022 Person County High School Graduates
The Victoria Jalissa Bradsher Daniel Memorial Scholarship
Available to Person High School graduating seniors planning to attend Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina Central University, or North Carolina A & T. Applicants will complete an application and interview process where good moral character, academics, financial need, community service, and leadership, are considerations.
Award Amount - $500
The Edith Baugh Darwin Scholarship for the Arts
This scholarship is available to any Person High School graduate with an interest in pursing post-secondary education focused on an arts or cultural degree at a community college, private college, or public university. Students should demonstrate a consistent past commitment to arts and culture and an understanding of the importance of artistic pursuits in modern societies as well as the role of the artist as central to humanity. Applicants will complete an application and interview process where academic excellence, commitment to artistic and cultural pursuits, community contribution, and some financial need, are considerations.
Arts and Cultural Studies are defined as:
Performing arts (such as drama, film, television, and broadcasting), dance, photography and photojournalism, writing (creative writing, poetry, play or songwriting, and any journalism or mass communications), fine arts, such as drawing, painting and sculpture, music, including voice and instrumental, design (such as graphic design, interior design, sound design, video games design, product design, and industrial design)

Reverend L.G. and Rosa Harris Elliott Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is available to Person High School graduating seniors planning to attend a community college, private college, or university and interested in considering teaching, and other avenues within the field of education. Applicants will complete an application and interview process where community service, leadership, and financial need are considerations.

The Dave and Ann Hodge Access Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Person County seniors graduating from Person High School, PECIL, Roxboro Community School, or a NC Free Public Residential high school. who plan to attend East Carolina University. Financial need, academic standing, and community service are primary considerations for the application and interview process.

The W. O. Humphries Family Scholarship
Available to students who desire to attend a four-year college or university. The scholarship is award is available to Person County Seniors graduating from Person High School, PECIL, Roxboro Community School,
or a NC Free Public Residential High School and based on evidence of academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.

This scholarship is available to Person County seniors graduating from Person High School, PECIL, Roxboro Community School, or a NC Free Public Residential high school who plan to attend College, University or a Vocational/Technical School. Academic standing and evidence of community service/spirit are primary considerations for the application and interview process.

The Dr. Thomas D. and Lelia C. Long Scholarship
Available to Person County seniors graduating from Person High School and Roxboro Community School who plan to attend a community college, private college, or university. Academic excellence as well as financial need are primary considerations for the competitive application and interview process.
Award Value - $4,000 ($1,000 a year for up to 4 years)
The Sandy Moore Scholarship
The available to Person High School and PECIL graduating seniors who lives in a single-parent household or exhibits first-generation college student status, demonstrates financial need, and displays a high degree of perseverance.

The Sarah Elizabeth Morton “Teach In Person” Scholarship
This scholarship is available to graduating Person High School and PECIL seniors majoring in education. Applicants are evaluated based on academic standing, character, leadership among peers, service in the community, and preparation for a career in educating students in the public schools of Person County.

The Zeke and Pam Smith Pirates Forever Scholarship
Available to students who are U.S. citizens, residents of Person County, and are graduating from any Person County private or public high school, qualified home school authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education, or a NC Free Public Residential high school. This scholarship awards students who plan to attend East Carolina University, with priority given to students enrolling in the ECU College of Education. However, other majors will be considered.

The Zeke and Pam Smith Wolves Forever Scholarship
Available to students who are U.S. citizens, residents of Person County, and are graduating from any Person County private or public high school, qualified home school authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education, or a NC Free Public Residential high school. This scholarship awards students who plan to attend NC State University, with priority given to those students interested in enrolling in the NCSU College of Engineering. However, other majors will be considered.

The Merle S. and Jean H. Solomon Scholarship
Available to Person County seniors graduating from Person High School, PECIL, and Roxboro Community School who plan to attend a technical program of study at a community college, a recognized trade school, or a two-or four-year institution of higher learning. This scholarship encourages Person County students who have shown a high degree of ability and interest in a technical field to continue their education after high school.

The Woodall Spirit Scholarship
This scholarship is available to seniors attending Person High School, Roxboro Community School, Roxboro Christian Academy, PECIL, NCSSM, or a qualified Home School authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education. The scholarship will honor a student who exhibits strength of character, a caring heart for others, and potential (gleaned from application and interview) for becoming a productive citizen in the future. Academics and leadership activities may be considered but are not primary requirements.

The William B. Strum and Faye Young Strum Scholarship
Available to Person High School seniors who plan to attend a private or public university, community college, or recognized trade school. This scholarship is given to students who are in need of financial support and are first in their family to attend post-high school education.
Award Value - $10,000 ($5,000 a year for up to 2 years)
The David and Dr. Vickie Tribble Scholarship
This scholarship was established to encourage Person County high school graduates to pursue post-secondary education and is available to students who are U.S. citizens, residents of Person County, and are graduating from any Person County private or public high school, qualified home school authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education, or a NC Free Public Residential high school.

The Rebecca Gentry Wilson Rise Up Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Person County residents graduating from high school who plan on attending a community college, private or public college or university. Priority will be given to applicants who plan on a career in education and who face and overcome life’s obstacles in meeting their dreams.

The Why I'm Ready Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Person County residents graduating from high school who plan on attending a community college, private or public college or university who demonstrate how they are college and career ready beyond a test score. To apply students must complete a short essay and upload a video of themselves telling PCEF, and the world, why they are college or career ready beyond a test score.
