The creation of the Darwin Family Scholarship was the inspiration of an anonymous donor who sought to support students graduating from Person High or PECIL who wish to pursue post-secondary education focused on the Arts and Cultural Studies at a community college, or a public or private college or university. Eligibility includes students who are graduating from Person High or PECIL.
These scholarship awards vary and are presented to students who demonstrate academic excellence and active involvement and participation in school, church, and/or community service. Awardees must demonstrate an understanding of the importance of artistic pursuits through a consistent past commitment to arts and culture. Financial need will be considered but will not be a key determining factor. Arts and Cultural Studies include the performing arts (drama, film, tv and broadcasting), dance, creative writing, poetry, drawing, painting, music, graphic design, interior design, among many others.
