THE DAVE AND ANN HODGE
ACCESS SCHOLARSHIP

​To honor the memory of his Helena High School Coach Dave Hodge, and honoring his wife Ann Hodge, Carl Rogers has established the Dave and Ann Hodge Access Scholarship.   

This scholarship is available to Person County seniors graduating from PHS and RCS who plan to attend East Carolina University.  The Hodge Access Scholarship provides recipients with a $5,000 annual reward and access to the ECU Access Scholarship Program.

Coach Dave Hodge was a Helena High Coach who positively influenced many students at Helena High School, especially scholarship donor Carl Rogers. Coach Dave's wife, Ann Hodge was also employed in the school system as a teacher assistant and bus driver.

​The newly established scholarship will award one graduate from Person High School or Roxboro Community School $5,000 per year toward post-secondary education at East Carolina University. This scholarship is renewable for a total of four years and will be given to a minimum of 10 students over a 10-year period.  Each Scholarship recipient will also become part of the ECU Access Scholarship Program.

hodge Access scholarship criteria
This scholarship was established to encourage a Person County resident to pursue furthering his/her post-secondary education at East Carolina University. This student should ideally exhibit:
  • Financial need
  • Good academic standing
  • Record of Community Service
  • Leadership skills
  • Strength of Character
Considerations:
  • First-generation college status
  • Single Parent Household
