The Dr. Thomas D. and Lelia C. Long Scholarship was established in 2017 to assist students who are pursuing post-secondary education. This scholarship is available to Person County seniors graduating from Person High School and Roxboro Community School who plan to attend a community college, private college, or university. Academic excellence as well as financial need are primary considerations for the competitive application and interview process. The Long Scholarship provides recipients with a $1,000 award for the first year of study and may be renewable for three additional years if certain conditions are met.

This scholarship is established to encourage a Person County resident to pursue furthering his/her post-secondary education at a community college, private college, or public university. This student should exhibit academic excellence, volunteerism, leadership, and some financial need. Renewals will be dependent on PCEF Scholarship Committee’s review of student’s most recent college transcript and application for renewal.
