The 'Why I'm Ready' Scholarship


The 'Why I'm Ready' Scholarship was established by Carl and Connie Rogers to encourage Person County residents to demonstrate how they are college and career ready beyond a test score.
AWARD AMOUNTS VARY
This scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Person High, PECIL, RCS, NCSSM as well as home schools, who plan on attending any community college, private or public college or university. To apply students must complete a short essay and/or a video explaining why they are college or career ready beyond a test score.

Examples include but or NOT LIMITED to: completion of an internship, Advanced Placement or dual credit class, or a career certification; near-perfect attendance; or participation in activities.  
READY SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Eligibility:
  • Applicants who are Person County residents graduating from one of the following:
    • Person High School
    • PECIL
    • Roxboro Community School
    • A NC Free Public Residential High School
    • A Qualified Home School authorized by the NC Division of Non-Public Education
  • Applicants pursuing a post-secondary education at any community college, private college, or public university.

Evaluation Criteria:
  • Applicants who demonstrate how they are college and career ready beyond their academic standing
  • NOTE: Applicants will be required to submit an additional essay and upload a video during the online application process.
