Dylan Bruce Yarboro
2018 Recipient of the Sanford "Sandy" More Award Created in 2016, the Sanford “Sandy” Moore Award was developed by Mr. Allen Martin in order to honor the memory of his fellow 1982 classmate and friend. This $1,000 award seeks to recognize a graduating senior who, like Sandy, displays a high degree of perseverance, exhibits first-generation college student status, and demonstrates financial need. This award was presented to Dylan Bruce Yarboro, son of Jackie Yarboro of Roxboro. After graduation from Person High School, Dylan will be attending the East Carolina University in the fall. 2018 Recipient of the Merle S. & Jean H. Solomon Scholarship The Merle S. And Jean H. Solomon Scholarship was established in 1995 to encourage Person County students who have shown a high degree of ability and interest in a vocational or technical field to continue their education after high school. Valued at $1,500, the Solomons created this endowment in order to “help people who work with their hands.” This scholarship was awarded to Person High School's Ryan Lee Riddle, son of Mike and Tammy Riddle of Rougemont. Ryan plans to continue his education at North Forsyth Center in the Electric Line Construction Program. Makenzie Alexandra Fisher
2018 Recipient of Sarah Elizabeth Morton "Teach in Person" Scholarship In its seventh year, the Sarah Elizabeth Morton “Teach In Person” Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic standing, character, leadership among peers, service in the community, and preparation for a career educating students in Person County. Complementing an endowment created by Mrs. Rena Morton, donations by PCS employees contribute to the scholarship awards. Two Scholarships $1,000 were awarded this year. Makenzie Alexandra Fisher is the daughter of Jeremy and Angela Fisher of Rougemont and will be attending Appalachian State University in the fall. Samantha Leigh Gaines

2018 Recipient of Dr. Thomas D. & Lelia C. Long Scholarship Available through an endowment established in 2017 courtesy of Dr. Thomas D. and Lelia C. Long, this scholarship values academic excellence, leadership, and volunteerism while acknowledging some financial need. Following a competitive interview process, a $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Alexis Grace Bowen, a Roxboro Community School senior. Alexis will be attending East Carolina University in the fall.
