PCEF Scholarship Application Instructions - READ FIRST!

Below is a list of forms you will need to complete by the scholarship deadline. All of the forms will have to be completed in order for the application to be considered. 
The PCEF website is just a pathway and a method of organization for your application. You will not download or upload anything directly here. Each form you will receive an email containing  a link that will direct you to your next form.  If you prepare in advance, each form should only take 15 - 20  minutes to complete!
Please be advised, the application includes more than one step to complete. Waiting until the deadline is near can cause difficulty in submitting the application prior to the deadline.
The Person County Education Foundation is not responsible for any technical errors that may arise as you complete and submit your application. We especially encourage you to upload required documents early, even if you aren't ready to submit your application. In addition, it is in your best interest to submit your application early to avoid any last minute web traffic problems. If your application is received after the deadline, it will be ineligible, regardless of the reason for late submission.
FORM ONE -  Application Registration
1 - Application Registration - This form that includes your basic contact information. 
You will need to have the following contact information for: 

  • Your parent's (address and email)
  • Your reference’s - (name and email address)
This form will also provide you the opportunity to:
  • Upload your most current transcript - if you DO NOT HAVE your transcript, an email will be sent to your school requesting a copy
  • Submit or take a photo of yourself
  • Sign the PCEF Consent Form​

FORM TWO -  SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY FORM
2 - Scholarship Applicant Eligibility Form - PCEF administers many scholarships designed to offer aid to students that represent unique characteristics. Completing this form will help PCEF determine which scholarships you qualify for.

You will need to have the following information to complete this form:
  • Weighted and Unweighted GPA (found on your transcript)
  • Class rank and percentile (found on your transcript)
  • SAT and ACT Scores ​
If you are a first generation college student, you will have the following essay prompt to answer:
  • Describe the importance of being a first-generation college student. What would this mean to you and your family?
If you are from a single parent home, you will have the following essay prompt to answer:
  • Describe how growing up in a single parent household has impacted your life, both emotionally and financially, specifically in regard to your college plans.​

FORM THREE -  colleges and scholarships
3 - Colleges and Scholarships - This form includes your plans after graduation and scholarships that you have applied for.  You will need to have the following contact information for: 
  • Colleges / Universities that you have applied to and your acceptance status
  • Your career goals, if you have decided (major, etc)
  • Your acceptance letter to upload if you have made your final decision

You will also list all funding that you have applied for and the current status of your applications.  PCEF has listed funding in the following categories:
  • Local Scholarships
  • ​State Scholarships
  • Additional Funding​
This form will also provide you the opportunity to answer the following Wilson 'Rise Up' essay prompt:
  • How have you faced, and overcome, some of life's obstacles in order to meet some dream or outcome?​

WILSON 'RISE UP' SCHOLARSHIP
FORM FOUR -  WORK, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
4 - Work, Community Involvement & Extracurricular Activities - This form includes your activities in the following categories:
  • Participation in Athletics: 
  • Extracurricular Activities/Club Memberships:
  • Academic Honors and Awards: 
  • Community Based Volunteer Activities:
  • Employment/Work Experience/Internship:
This form will also provide you the opportunity to:
  • Answer the following essay prompts:
    • Describe how you try to make your community a better place. 
    • What does 'paying it forward' mean to you?
  • Upload your resume (this is OPTIONAL, not required)

Work, Community Involvement & Extracurricular Activities TIPS
FORM FIVE -  ESSAYS
5 - Essays - This form has three essay prompts that you can submit in either written or video format.  The essays prompts are:
  • PCEF Essay Prompt 1:  Describe your goals and explain how your high school accomplishments are related to your collegiate and long-range career plans.
  • PCEF Essay Prompt 2:  Explain why you are seeking financial assistance. Be sure to include any special personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance.
  • The 'Why I'm Ready' Essay Prompt: Explain why you know you are college and career ready and how that shaped your post-secondary plans.  ​
               Examples include, but are not limited to: work or family circumstances that may have prepared you for the future, completion of an
                  internship, Advanced Placement or dual credit class, or a career certification; near-perfect attendance; or participation in
                  activities, life experiences vs.standardized testing, etc.

FORM SIX -  APPLICATION REVIEW - COMING SOON
6 -  Application Review Form - Once you have completed and submitted forms 1 - 5, you should review an email that contains a link to a form called APPLICATION REVIEW. 
This form should contain all the information that you submitted.  Please review and make any corrections before submitting as this will be the FINAL DOCUMENT that the committee will review
